I used to be anti-granny square. I didn't have a hatred for them; I just felt that they were so done. I mean, we all (well, those of us who lived through the seventies) had at least one granny square blanket out of that scratchy 100% acrylic yarn hanging around the house. I had one that either my mother or grandmother made...I can't remember. Probably my grandmother, since she was the big crocheter in the family. My sister and I had matching granny square blankets.
Yes, I still have it.
But I was sick of them. Until I saw this and fell in love all over again with granny squares -- baby grannies to be exact. And then there was Martha Stewart's sugar-cookie-ish wool blend yarn (yes, I'm still drooling over it) that had me at hello. It was a match made in heaven.
Don't know which little one will end up cuddling up in it, but I hope they'll enjoy the super-soft wooly squooshiness. It's brightening up the grey, rainy days we've had lately.
